Josef Mařatka (1874-1937)
bronz, 20,3 x10 x 9 cm, značeno na podstavci sochy Josef Mařatka, odlil Franta Anýž (značeno na podstavci sochy), český sochař a žák Augusta Rodina Josef Mařatka svá studia započal mezi lety 1889-1896 na Uměleckoprůmyslové škole u Celdy Kloučka. Po roce 1899 přešel do nově zřízeného ateliéru sochařství na pražské Akademii, v jehož čele stál Josef Václav Myslbek. Během studia vytvořil sochu Ledaři na Vltavě, za níž v roce 1900 získal Hlávkovo stipendium a mohl odjet do Paříže. Byl přijat do Rodinova ateliéru, pod jehož vedením vytvářel plastické studie rukou a nohou. Naturalistické ztvárnění postavy k němuž byl směřován u Myslbeka, obohatil o svobodné pojetí lidského těla a ve svých dalších dílech se začal více soustředit na prohloubení vztahu formy a obsahu. V roce 1902 uspořádal v Praze výstavu Rodinovi, o sedm let později i Antoinu Bourdellovi. Obě přehlídky měly zásadní vliv na následující vývoj českého sochařství. Po dalších studijních cestách se usadil v Praze a v roce 1920 se stal profesorem na Uměleckoprůmyslové škole v Praze. Mařatkovy první práce se vyrovnávají s expresionismem, pozdější tvorba je orientována symbolistně-secesním směrem. Mezi jeho nejznámější díla se řadí Opuštěná Ariadna, jež svou obrysově uzavřenou linií a volným středem přinesla nové pojetí aktu. Nabízené dílo zobrazuje ruskou herečku Olgu Gzowskou, která působila ve Státním akademickém divadle Maly v Moskvě. Sochu odlil řezbář, cizelér a medailér Franta Anýž, s nímž se Mařatka potkával v ateliéru Celdy Kloučka.
